Ramoji Rao files writ challenging APPDFE Act

Hyderabad, Dec 29 (UNI) The Chief Editor of Eenadu group of publication and the Kartha of the Joint Hindu Family which is running the Margadarshi Finance, Ch Ramoji Rao today filed a writ petition questioning the constitutional validity of the Andhra Pradesh Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act 1999.

Mr Rao chose to question the validity of the Act as during the course of arguments in another writ petition, filed by him, questioning the constitution of Rangachary Committee by the State Government to look into the alleged irregularities committed by the Margadarshi, the court opined that, if Rao felt that the Government could not have the power to appoint Rangachary Committee under section 3 of the Small Depositors Protection Act, he could as well challenge the validity of that Act so that the court could consider all aspects. A similar act was struck down by the Maharastra High Court, it noted.
