One more CRPF personnel commit suicide in Kashmir
Srinagar, Dec 29 (UNI) One more jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commited suicide here today despite the introduction of a 24-hour help-line for security personnel posted in Jammu and Kashmir to help them overcome their problems.
Official sources said a CRPF jawan R Choudhary shot himself dead with his service weapon at Humhama this morning.
Police have registered a case in this regard. Choudhary was the second CRPF jawan who took the extreme step during the past one week.
A CRPF jawan committed suicide in similar circumstances at Bemina on December 25.
This is another incident of suicide by security personnel posted in Jammu and Kashmir in the recent past.
Alarmed by the increasing incident of suicides among Army troops and other security personnel, the defence authorities have recently introduced a 24-hour help-line and yoga classes besides several other measures to help the soldiers overcome the problems related to stress and their family.
Jammu and Kashmir Police too have decided to start stress management classes and psychiatric counselling for its stressed out personnel here.
According to the Medical Superintendent of Police hospital, the stress management and psychiatric consultation-cum-counselling classes would soon be conducted at the hospital here.
