No financial crunch for Krishna Phase II project: Minister

Hyderabad, Dec 29 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today decided to provide a counter-guarantee of Rs 130.56 crore for completion of Phase II of the Krishna drinking water project.

With this, there would be no problem in completing the Rs 1,082 crore project as scheduled to augment the drinking water supply to the twin-cities. The state's share of the project cost was Rs 605.40 crore, Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.

The Cabinet also decided to provide a counter-guarantee to the Girijan Cooperative Corporation to obtain a Rs 9.55 crore loan from the Centre to augment working capital and provide land on lease to the Union Government for setting up a lighthouse in coastal East Godavari district bordering the Yanam region.

The Cabinet gave its sanction for starting four new agricultural colleges, one each in Nellore, Kadapa, Anantapur and Nizamabad districts.
