Lt Gen Singh visits Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre

Chandigarh, Dec 29 (UNI) Reaffirming the commitment of the Western Command towards rehabilitating paraplegic and tetraplegic ex-servicemen, Lt Gen Daljeet Singh, GOC-in-C, Western Command, visited the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre (PRC) at Mohali today.

Stressing the need for providing the most modern facilities to the inmates of the Centre, the Army Commander promised to provide them the required financial and logistic help.

Giving a presentation on the occasion, Col(retd) Jaswant Singh Spehia, Director, PRC apprised Gen Daljeet Singh that in the next phase of construction, the capacity of the Centre would be increased to 58 beds from the present 30.

Aimed at infusing an urge to live and motivate them to become self-supporting citizens by providing suitable vocational training facilities, the Centre provides facilities like medical treatment, physiotherapy, physical exercise and sports and computer training.

The concept of Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre (PRC) was evolved in early seventies with a view to rehabilitate those armed forces personnel, who suffered spinal cord or other injuries resulting into a state of paraplegia or tetraplegia.
