Himgiri express derails near Hoshiarpur

Hoshiarpur, Dec 29: A power engine of Himgiri Express along with its first attached bogie derailed this morning near Challang railway station, about 40 km from here.

The movement of trains on Jalandhar-Pathankot section remained suspended for one-and-a-half-hour but there was no loss of life due to the mishap which occurred at around 0745 hrs, the railway sources said.

A power engine was acquired from Jalandhar and the Jammu-bound 2332 down Himgiri Express left for its destination after some delay.

Sources further said that the accident was caused as some of the track portion sank at the site, loosening nuts and bolts.
