Gen J J Singh discusses army's Rapid Modernisation Prog
Lucknow, Dec 29 (UNI) Army Chief General J J Singh today discussed with the Central Command several key issues, including ways to increase operational worthiness through rapid technologoical upgradation in keeping with the Rapid Modernisation Programme of the Indian Army.
Gen J J Singh, accompanied by his wife Mrs Anupama Singh were on a day-long visit to Heaquarters Central Command (HQCC) here today.
Later, the COAS visited the recently inaugurated Surya Sainik Institute.
He was apprised of the various welfare measures undertaken to improve the quality of life of the Personnel Below Officer Rank (PBOR), which form bulk of the Army and on whose well-being rest the performance of the organisation itself.
General J J Singh complimented the officers on their ''visionary initiative'' and hoped the PBOR would make most of this golden opportunity to enhance their physical and mental fitness.
On his arrival, the General was received by Lt Gen O P Nandrajog, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command.
Meanwhile, Mrs Singh -- who is also the President, Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) -- was welcomed by Mrs Nandrajog, President, AWWA Central Command.
She was briefed on the various ongoing welfare activities. The AWWA President appreciated the initiatives undertaken for the empowerment of women.
Later, Mrs Singh visited the recently inaugurated Studio and Channel 'Surya Darpan'.
Interacting with AWWA members, she complimented them on their landmark initiative and hoped this would be a forerunner for many more such new and innovative measures in the future too.
