Gauge conversion work to be completed

Chennai, Dec 29 (UNI) The Southern Railway's gauge conversion work between Mandapam and Rameswaram would be completed shortly, and President A P J Abdul Kalam is likely to dedicate the same to the nation in March 2007, according to Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu.

Winding up the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Southern Railway State Bharat Scouts and Guides here today, Mr Velu pointed out that the gauge conversion work in different parts of Tamil Nadu was also going on in full swing.

He announced a cash grant of Rs one lakh to the Southern Railway State Bharat Scouts and Guides.
