Four teams enter league phase

Vijayawada, Dec 29 (UNI) Periyar and Bangalore Universities today made it to the super league of the Inter-University All India Ball Badminton tournament for men at the Acharya Nagarjuna University Campus in Guntur today.

Periyar University fought a keenly contested battle with University of Kerala. The first two games were equally balanced as both teams fought tooth and nail for every point. Kerala won the first 29-28 and Periyar the second at 29-22.

However, the tide turned in Periyar University's favour with spirited performances by A Ramesh and K Raghuram, rendering futile the excellent play by R S Sajit and R L Ranjit of the Univerisity of Kerala.

Periyar University proved their mettle winning the final game 29-17.

In the second match, Bangalore University outplayed Bharathidasan University posting a comfortable 29-13, 29-14 win. The outstanding performances of K S Bharath Kumar and J Sankar were of definite advantage to Bangalore University. For Bharathidasan A Mastan and Salya Murthy played well.

Anna University and Kakatiya University also made it to the super league.
