Elephant tramples a farmer to death
Kolhapur, Dec 29 (UNI) A young farmer was trampled to death by an elephant at village Nul in Gadhinglaj tehsil of this district today.
The deceased, identified as Bhima Babu Kadlge(32), from Nul was working in his field when an elephant from a herd attacked him, Forest and police sources said.
Bhima died on the spot while his associate escaped from the site.
Bhima was the third person, who has lost life in last nine days.
Earlier, on December 21, one Rama Ashok Naik-Muknnawar(22), was crushed by an elephant at Chinchewadi village in same tehsil.
On December 25, a farmer Baburao Miraje-Bagari from Solapur village, three kms away from Sankeshwar, was killed in an elephant attack, sources said.
For last couple of months, the herd of elephants has created terror in Gadinglaj, Chandgad and Ajra tehsils of Maharashtra and also damaged crops.
