EC extends UP electoral rolls' publication date

Lucknow, Dec 29 (UNI) The Election Commission has extended the date of publication of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh, slated on January 3, by almost two weeks as most districts have sought more time to finish their work.

Now, the EC has fixed a deadline of January 15 to publish the final electoral rolls in UP, state electoral officer Anuj Kumar Bishnoi said here today.

He said since printing and publication of about 11 million voters' lists will take some time, the deadline was extended.

Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N Gopalaswamy himself reviewed the electoral rolls' progress in three phases in UP and even sent a team of central observers and Election Commissioners to check irregularities in the list.
