Dist admn to develop handicrafts: Collector
Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Dec 29 (UNI) West Godavari District Collector L A V Agarwal today said the district administration would impart training to youth to develop handicrafts in the district.
Mr Agarwal was inaugurating an exhibition cum sale of 'Lepakshi' handicrafts organised by Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation (APHDC).
Speaking on the occasion here, Mr Agarwal said there was a need to develop the centuries-old art of handicrafts.
He said handicrafts production centres should be set up in large numbers in rural areas for the livelihood of the artisans and economic development.
Lepakshi Organisation Manager Jaganmohan Rao said the exhibition would be held till January 11. The Lepakshi emporiums have been opened in all major cities and towns in the state.
He said in this exhibition, handicrafts like Kondapalli toys, Lace products and hand-made toys would be displayed for sale.
