CPI registers four per cent increase in November

Shimla, Dec 29 (UNI) All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of November, 2006 was at 127.

During November, 2006, the index recorded an increase of four points in Jalpaiguri centre. It increased by three points each in Ludhiana, Sholapur and Lucknow centres, two points in seven centres and one point in 18 centres. The index decreased by four points in Labac-Silchar centre, three points in Kodarma, two points each in Chhidwara, Durgapur and Nagpur centres and one point in 13 centres, while in the remaining 31 centres the index remained stationary.

The increase of four points in Jalpaiguri centre was contributed by the increase in the prices of rice, urd dal, masur dal, mustard oil, vegetables and fruits items, beedi etc. In Labac-Silchar centre the decrease of four points was due to the decrease in the prices of rice, wheat atta, fresh fish, vegetable and fruit items etc.

The indices in respect of the six main centres are Ahmedabad (126), Bangalore (129), Chennai (121), Delhi (125), Kolkata (126) and Mumbai (130).

The CPI-IW for December, 2006 will be released on the last working day of the next month.
