Complaint to NHRC against Diggy
Ujjain, MP, Dec 29 (UNI) The Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha's district unit President Anil Singh Chandel has complained to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) about the police not filing a report against All India Congress Committee General Secretary Digvijay Singh who allegedly assaulted Mr Chandel recently.
In a letter sent to the NHRC yesterday, Mr Chandel said that a certain group protested against former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Singh attending the Mahasabha's state-level convention here on December 25.
''Black flags were waved in a democratic manner but Mr Singh attacked me. The Dewasgate Police Station is yet to file a report.
If my friends and others had not been present, I could have been slain,'' Mr Chandel alleged.
He met the City Superintendent of Police at Dewasgate Station and demanded that a report be filed. Mr Chandel was then escorted by the police for a check-up at the district hospital where he was admitted.
''Newspapers prominently published photographs of Mr Singh trying to strangle me and beating me,'' said Mr Chandel who has demanded that the NHRC initiate legal action against Mr Singh and provide security to the victim.
