BSP replaces UP unit chief
Lucknow, Dec 29 (UNI) Ahead of the crucial Uttar Pradesh assembly poll, BSP, serious contender for the formation of next government, today nominated Mr Lalji Verma as the new state unit party chief.
''Since, present incumbent Barkhu Ram Verma is seriously ill and not being able to discharge his duties, we are making Mr Lalji Verma, MLA from Ambedkar Nagar, the new state unit party president,'' announced BSP supremo Mayawati here.
''To prevent any wrong message, the new president belongs to the same caste as of Mr Barkhu Ram Verma.'' Mr Lalji Verma said his main aim would be to achieve absolute majority in the assembly poll under the leadership of Ms Mayawati.
Earlier, Mr Barkhu Ram Verma, suffering from serious illness for the last several months, had been admitted to the super-speciality Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) here for treatment.
