Bhubaneswar rly station to be made 'world class'
Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: Bhubaneswar Railway station has been included in the list of 17 stations to be developed as 'world class modern station' all over the country.
According to a release issued by the East Coast Railways (ECoR), a sum of Rs one crore has been allotted for the consultancy to prepare conceptual plan followed by detailed engineering project work. Necessary funds for the development of the station would be made available in the 2007-08 Railway Budget.
ECoR General Manager Narendra Kumar Goel has directed the Principal Chief Engineer and Chief Commercial Manager to finalise consultant for preparation of comprehensive scheme catering to all the functional requirements of the railway so as to meet the projected traffic.
The consultant chosen for the project would also identify potential areas which could be executed following Public Private Participation (PPP) so that risk, cost and resources could be shared between the Railways and private players to maximise the service.
A decision on the appropriate construction methodology to complete the work expeditiously would be taken on advice of the consultant, the release said.
