Badal welcomes poll dates, says SAD-BJP combine ready

Jalandhar, Dec 29 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today welcomed the declaration of the election schedule for assembly elections in Punjab.

''SAD-BJP combine is ready for the polls and all set to defeat the ruling Congress and re-capture power,'' Mr Badal told UNI.

As per the election schedule announced by the Election Commission today, polling for 117 assembly seats in Punjab would be held on February 13, 2007 and the counting of votes would be taken up on February 27, 2007.
