TNCC pledges to restore Kamaraj Rule
Chennai, Dec 28 (UNI) TNCC President M Krishnaswamy today reiterated his party's commitment to restore Kamaraj Rule in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing a press conference after unfurling the party flag at Satyamurthy Bahavan, the TNCC's headquaters here, to commemorate the 122nd Formation Day of the Congress Party, Mr Krishnaswamy said the TNCC office-bearers who would be named soon would undertake whirlwind tour of the state to strengthen the party's base at all levels to fulfill TNCC's long-pending dream of re-establishing the Kamaraj Rule in the state.
The TNCC would replace ineffective DCC Presidents soon to revamp the party activities at the district and taluk levels.
Admitting to groupism in the party, he said it had existed since the Satyamurthy-Kamaraj period and was quite natural for a democratic party.
Referring to Former BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu' charge that the Congress had betrayed the people of India, he said during the BJP rule, the onion prices were ruling at Rs 60 a kg in Delhi. So, the citizens threw the party out of power.
He said the Centre had effectively checked the price rise in the country and the Congress Government was the only government in India to roll back price hike on petroleum products.
Due to effective administration of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, the GDP grew to 8.5 per cent as against five to seven per cent in the previous governments, he claimed.
To a question, he said the Congress High Command was still holding talks with the DMK for getting representation in the State Cabinet and also government posts.
Mr Krishnaswamy pointed out the Congressmen celebrated the 122nd Formation Day throughout Tamil Nadu by hoisting the party flag on new masts.
Earlier, Mr Krishnaswamy and Mr Sudarsanam paid floral tributes to the decorated portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, Congress leaders and freedom fighters.
