TN Govt to develop lesser known tourist destinations

Chennai, Dec 28 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has taken efforts to develop lesser known tourist destinations to attract more tourists into the State.

Under this scheme, the Yelagiri Hills in Vellore District and Puliancholai in Tiruchy district would be taken up for development at a cost of Rs 100 lakh and Rs 98 lakh respectively.

The Government had also come out with Coffee Table Book on the world heritage monuments situated in Tamil Nadu.

An official release said, of the 26 world heritage monuments in India, five were in Tamil Nadu.

''In order to give wide publicity about these monuments, a Coffee Table Book on Nilgiris Mountain Railways, Great Living Chola Temples and Pallava Monuments have been brought out by the department'', the release added.

This Coffee Table Book would be sent to the Travel Writers, Travel Agencies and Tour Operators.
