Stir over Jiribam issue to intensify

Imphal, Dec 28 (UNI) The Jiribam sub-division, now under Imphal east, remained tense after the district demand committee convenor Naipaksana announced that it would boycott senior cabinet minister and local MLA Th Devendra Singh for his failure to convert the sub-division to a district.

The committee said survey work for railway line in the area has also stopped as a part of the stir.

It demanded that the government take a decision by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the government had agreed in principle to upgrade the sub division, but no time had been fixed.
