Link Muslim uplift with plan process and budget: IUML
Mumbai, Dec 28 (UNI) Indian Union Muslim Leauge (IUML) today demanded that developmental schemes and programmes for Muslims be linked with budgetary allocations and the planning process in order to ensure availability of adequate funds.
''This is essential because the recommendations of the Sachar Committee are to be implemented both at the Centre and in the States,''party president GM Banatwala said.
In a statement here, he said IUML has decided to launch nationwide drive for governmental action in the light of the Committee's report. '' We will press for reservations for Muslims in services, education and legislatures in proportion to their population,'' the statement said.
The state units of IUML will organise mass signature campaign for public memoranda to be sent to the Prime Minister from across the country, Mr Banatwalla said, adding the League would also organise public meetings, rallies and seminars to mobilise public opinion.
