Anna Varsity, JNTU in second round

Vijayawada, Dec 28 (UNI) Anna University, Chennai and JNTU University, Hyderabad stromed into the second round of the Inter-University All India Ball Badminton Men's Tournament at the Acharya Nagarjuna University Campus in Guntur last evening.

As many as 52 university teams competed in the first round.

Anna University defeated University of Delhi 29-0, 29-1 while JNTU outwitted University of Calcutta 29-7, 29-1 in first round matches in 'C' and 'D' pools.

In other matches, Krishna Devaraya University, Anantapur beat University of Mumbai 29-16, 29-5 while Kakatiya University, Warangal trounced Punjab University, Patiala 29-9,29-3 in Pool 'D' to enter the second round.

Manonmoniam Sundarnar University crushed Deena Dayal Upadhyay University 29-6, 29-7 in another pool 'D' match.

Following are the other universities which entered the second round: SRM University, Kovampu University, Mangalore University, Utkal University, Bharatgar University, North Maharashtra University, Bangalore University, University of Kerala, Periyar University, Alagappa University, Gulbarga University, S V University, Tiruvallur University, Karnataka University.
