950-km Guj-MP pipeline

Bhopal, Dec 28 (UNI) Crude oil would be conveyed by a 950-km pipeline from Gujarat to Madhya Pradesh's Bina where a refinery would begin functioning in 2008.

Madhya Pradesh Commerce and Industry Minister Babulal Gaur today viewed the Bharat-Oman Petroleum Company's oil storage facility at Vadinagar.

''Land for the pipeline has been acquired and work on laying it will begin soon. Oil will be extracted from the seabed 18 km off the Vadinagar coast,'' the company's senior official Vinod Agrawal told the visiting minister.

Work is progressing on massive storage tanks that will be completed in a year.

Mr Gaur is in Gujarat to attend an investors' summit scheduled for tomorrow.
