2 ISI agents held in UP capital

Lucknow, Dec 28 (UNI) The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police arrested two agents of Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI in the state capital this afternoon.

Some important restricted military documents were recovered from their possession.

SSP STF S K Bhagat said acting on a tip-off, a police team reached Kaiserbagh area and nabbed the two agents, identified as Adil and Abdul Shakoor. Both are residents of Multan.

On being searched, restricted military papers, fake passports and ration cards were recovered from them.

During interrogation, the duo confessed they were trained in Pakistan and entered India in February 2005 by crossing the Indo-Nepal border.

They used to collect and pass on secret information from India to Pakistan.

Abdul claimed he was sent to India for spying on the promise that his three year jail term would be waived in Pakistan.

After coming to India, he first worked in a bakery in Aminabad area here. Later, he stayed in Lucknow Cantonment area and obtained secret information which he passed to his handlers.

The other accused Adil held a diploma in computer hardware and was editor of 'Anjum alias Adil' -- a Pakistani magazine.
