Ultras gun down BJP leader in Jharkhand

Chatra, Dec 27 (UNI) Maoist ultras today gunned down a local BJP leader in this district headquarters town.

Police said three armed naxalites fired a volley of bullets on former president of the BJP's city unit Vijay Shah near Bagwanwa crematorium, killing him on the spot.

Local businessmen closed their shops and an irate mob squatted on the main road in protest against the incident.

The ultras shot dead Mr Shah when he tried to prevent them from extorting money from some local contractors, engaged in constructing a bridge.
