Two LeT militants, soldier killed in J

Srinagar, Dec 27 (UNI) Two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants and a soldier were among five people killed while ultras triggered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near a college in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said today.

Security forces gunned down two LeT militants in a fierce gun-battle at Kara village near Seal Bandas in Kulhand sector of Doda district today.

He said Two AK rifles and six magazines were seized from the slain militants, one of whom was identified as Mohammad Ashraf alias Rahim Ganai, a resident of Dalyas Udhayanpur in Doda district.

The spokesman said a Tata Sumo driver and a soldier were killed when militants ambushed the vehicle carrying troops at Rakh Litter in Wachi area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir last evening.

Militants opened heavy fire on the Tata Sumo carrying soldiers at Rakh Litter when on way to Wachi in Pulwama district. Taxi driver Mukhtar Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Batapora in Shopian area of the same district, was killed on the spot while two soldiers and a civilian were wounded in the firing, he added.

The spokesman said one of the soldiers later died in a hospital here. The condition of the other soldier was now stated to be stable, he added.

A tractor driver, Mohammad Ramzan, also sustained injuries in the militant ambush. The Al Mansoorian militant outfit later claimed responsibility for the attack.
