Two arrested for making fake cheque in Kashmir
Srinagar, Dec 27 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have arrested two people for making a fake cheque.
Police said they had received a complaint from Jammu and Kashmir Bank Manager Langate branch Mohammad Afzal Dar, alleging that Parvez Ahmad Lone, a resident of Kralgund in Handwara area of Kupwara district, had presented a scanned cheque of Rs 40,000.
On perusal, the cheque was found to be fake and the accused was handed over to the Handwara police station for further action.
A case was registered against Lone and during the course of investigations, it was revealed that Mehraj-ud-Din Mir, a resident of Beaner in Baramulla district had given the cheque to Lone.
Mir had scanned the cheque in his computer, which was later seized by the police. He too was then arrested.
Both the accused have been remanded and lodged in police custody.
Further investigations were in progress, police added.
