Temperature fluctuation continues; cold toll at 46 in UP
Lucknow, Dec 27 (UNI) The toll due to cold mounted to 46 in Uttar Pradesh following the death of two persons in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the marked rise in temperature accompanied by bright sunshine continued in the state.
The temperature hovered above normal in Kanpur, Lucknow, Jhansi, Faizabad, Allahabad and Bareilly divisions, the Met office told UNI here today.
Agra, at 6 degrees Celsius -- one degree below normal -- was the coldest place in UP. The state capital recorded 12.2 degrees.
In the last 24 hours, 9 degrees Celsius was recorded in Gorakhpur, followed by 9 degrees in Varanasi, 12.6 degrees in Kanpur and 15.6 degrees celsius in Jhansi.
However, drizzle was witnessed in Bareilly and Jhansi divisions.
Wheat farmers are rejoicing with the blessings of the Sun God, which has brought good prospects for their crops.
The weatherman has forecast mainly clear skies with mild fog envelope during the early and late hours tomorrow.
Two persons died in Mahoba in the last 24 hours. So far, 14 people have died of cold in this district.
