SRPF constable hurt as pressure bomb goes off in Gadchiroli
Nagpur, Dec 27 (UNI) A constable, attached to the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), today sustained minor injuries when a pressure bomb, suspected to have been planted by naxalites, went off at Jambiagatta in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra.
Police said the bomb exploded this morning when a joint team, comprising the SRPF and the state police, was carrying out a search operation in the area. In the explosion, Constable Ravi Bahadur sustained injuries on his chest and shoulder. He was discharged after first, aid.
The team was providing protection to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) personnel, who were working in the area on the construction of a bridge.
The search operation was on after a group of suspected naxalites allegedly opened fire on the policemen, who also retaliated. The naxalites fled into the jungle after the brief exchange of fire, police added.
