Press Club Secretary assaulted

Kolkata, Dec 27 (UNI) Kolkata Press Club today condemned the attack on its Secretary Anindya Sengupta by a group of miscreants and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

In a statement, club President Sudeb Roychwdhury also condemned the recent incidents of assault of journalists in the city.

Mr Sengupta, a special correspondent of the Telegraph, was accosted by the miscreants late last night while returning home. The miscreants assaulted and abused Mr Sengupta calling him a ''CPI(M) stooge''. They also snatched away money and valuable documents from him before escaping.

Mr Sengupta later lodged a general complaint with the local police station.
