PAC jawan commits suicide on Kashi Vishwanath complex

Varanasi, Dec 27 (UNI) A PAC head constable posted on the highly sensitive Gyanwapi-Kashi Vishwanath complex, allegedly committed suicide with his service rifle while on duty here this evening.

DIG PAC Badri Prasad Singh told mediapersons, Ram Bachan Ram, 45 attached with 42nd PAC Battalion (Naini) committed suicide by shooting self with his INSAS service rifle in Chaparia Gali on the yellow zone of the complex.

Hearing the gun shots, other securitymen rushed to the spot.

However, Ram Bachan succumbed to his wounds.

A resident of Kopaganj in neighbouring Mau district, he had returned from leave on December 25, the DIG added.

Meanwhile, sources in the PAC 42nd Battalion confided that he was suffering from Tuberculosis and was worried about the inordinate delay in his daughter's marriage.

Investigations are on.
