Orissa takes 354 first innings lead as J
Cuttack, Dec 27 (UNI) Orissa opted to bat without enforcing the follow on after dismissing Jammu and Kashmir for a paltry 198 on the third day of their Ranji Trophy plate group match at Barbati Stadium here today.
The host team continued their total domination today by taking wickets at regular intervals. Chasing a mammoth first innings total of 552, the Jammu&Kashmir batsmen failed to put up any resistance.
Some of the Jammu and Kashmir batsmen appear to be settling down in their thirties but none of them went on to make a big score. Four Jammu and Kashmir batsmen-Vivek Singh(37), Dhurva Mahajan(35), Hardeep Singh(31) and Raman Dutta(31) were dismissed in their thirties. The rest failed to reach double figure.
For Orissa Sanjaya Satpathy claimed five for 72 while Sukanta Khatua and Niranjan Behera claimed two wickets each.
Contrary to expectation,the Orissa team which had a first innings lead of 354 runs, opted to bat for the second time and did not enforce the follow on.
At close of play Orissa were 18 for no loss.Shib Sundar Das who had score an unbeaten triple century yesterday, did not open the innings.Bikash Pati and Prabhanjan Mallick remained not out with four and 12 runs respectively.
