Mulayam asks Kiran pal not to resign

Bulandshahr/Lucknow, Dec 27 (UNI) Giving a clean chit to Uttar Pradesh Primary Education Minister Kiran Pal Singh in connection with Dr Kavita Rani murder case, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today asked him not to resign from the ministry.

''When the investigation has not found you guilty in the case, why should you resign?'' the Chief Minister told Kiran Pal when the latter expressed his desire to resign from the ministry.

Talking to mediapersons at Bulandshahr, Mr Singh said MR Yadav also asked him to face the situation boldly.

Alleging a conspiracy against him, Mr Singh claimed neither he nor any of his family members were involved in the case.

''It is a conspiracy hactched by some vested forces to malign my image before the 2007 assembly poll and I am ready for the CBI probe in the case,'' he maintained.

Announcing he would hold a public rally at Agota, his assembly constituency in Bulandshahr on December 31 to reply on the conspiracy, Mr Singh said ''if during the rally, people demand my resignation, I will give it happily.'' Reiterating he had never met Kavita, the minister added police investigation had also revealed his name was dragged in the case for some political reasons.

Yesterday, UP minister of state for food processing Babulal, a Rashtriya Lok Dal member, resigned from the Mulayam Singh Yadav governemnt after his name was linked to the case.

The RLD leader's name was dragged in the murder case after Kavita's diary read he had phoned her over 53 times on October 23, while she was missing.

Former UP irrigation minister Merajuddin Ahmed had also quit the RLD executive on Monday.
