Minister announces corpus fund for cultural programme
Kuchipudi, Andhra Pradesh, Dec 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah has announced that a corpus fund of Rs 50 lakhs would be given to the Potti Sriramulu Telugu University (PSTU) for conducting cultural programmes throughout the state.
Participating at the valedictory function of the kuchipudi dance festival here last night, Mr Rosaiah said the corpus fund would be released in the next financial year.
He assured to consider increasing financial support to the university. Mr Rosaiah alo felicitated kuchipudi dance exponents Vedantam Radhesyam and Josyula Krishna Murthy on the occasion.
Well-known film director K Viswanath who also participated in the function, expressed concern over the neglect of our traditional dance forms. He also lamented that classical dances were being 'lampooned' in films.
As many as artists from various states in the country took part in the five-day festival.
