Kidnapped women rescued, abductor held in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 27 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police today claimed to have rescued a woman from the clutches of her abductor after ten days of captivity.

Police said Haniefa Bano, wife of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, was allegedly abducted by Abdul Rashid War about ten days ago.

Bhat, a resident of Kangroosa in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district, had lodged a complaint in the Kralgund police station, alleging that his wife was abducted by War from her parent's residence at Haril.

A case was registered and efforts launched to trace the woman as well as her abductor.

After 10 days of intensive search, police rescued the woman from the clutches of War, a resident of Sheikhpora, Haril, from Sheeri in Baramulla district. He was arrested.

The woman was subjected to medical examination at the Sub District Hospital, Kralgund and the tests confirmed that she had been sexually exploited by her abductor, police said.
