Kerala's tableau to recreate ''Kalamandalam''
New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) Kerala's art and dance forms will be recreated against the backdrop of "Kerala Kalamandalam" at the Republic Day Parade on January 26.
Renowned artistes from the state would perform Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Ottamthullal on the tableau of the "God's Own Country." The highlight of the tableau would be the famous "Koothambalam" of the Kerala Kalamandalam, which promotes the state's art and dance forms, in Thrissur.
Kerala government sources said Kerala was the only state from the south selected to present a float.
Kerala has been selected by the Defence Ministry to present a tableau after a gap of two years.
A total of 18 states would present through tableaux the legacies of art and culture.
The states which would have their tableaux are : Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Chattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Jharkhand, Goa, Tripura and Delhi.
