Jail official caught accepting bribe

Surat, Dec 27: A Surat sub-jail official has arrested by the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting a bribe from visitors to supply tobacco products to jail inmates.

ACB officials said, the accused, Amrut Kanji Jadav, a siphai (constable) was caught red handed yesterday while accepting Rs 500 from a decoy sent by ACB officials.

They said they had received information earlier that several shops had mushroomed in front of the jail from where tobacco products were being sent into the jail with the help of officials.
