Govt envisages master plan for PSUs
Kollam, Dec 27 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achutanandan today said here that his government had envisaged a master plan for Reopening all Public Sector Undertakings in the state that had been closed down.
After inaugurating the Titanium Sponge Plant at Chavara near here, he sought the co-operation of political parties and labour unions for reviving the PSUs.
State Industries Minister Elamaram Karim, Irrigation Minister N K Premachandran and Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) director B N Suresh were present.
As part of efforts to indigenously produce strategic materials for its space programme, the VSSC had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with, Government of Kerala Undertaking Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML), Chavara, for establishing a 500 Tonne per annum Titanium Sponge Plant.
The Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Hyderabad, developed the technology for the titanium sponge plant.
