Govt employees, students to wear khadi/handloom clothes

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 27 (UNI) The Kerala Government today requested government employees and students to wear khadi or handloom clothes once in a week as part of promoting these textiles.

A proposal in this regard was adopted by the State Cabinet which met here today, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan told mediapersons.

The Cabinet also decided to sanction one month's free ration to residents of the Pettippalam colony in Thalassery (Kannur district) and plantation workers of the AVT company in Pathanamthitta who were suffering from viral fever.
