FIR against IPS officer

Bhopal, Dec 27 (UNI) Crime Investigation Department today registered a case against an Indian Police Service officer in connection with the death,'' under suspicious circumstances,'' of a 29-year-old sub-inspector at Bhind district headquarters about a month ago, sources said.

Mr Rajababu Singh, who was then Bhind's police superintendent, is accused under Section 306(b) of the Criminal Procedure Code -- of abetting the suicide of Chetna Sharma, whose corpse was found on November 30 in her quarters near Police Lines.

The cause of death was a gunshot wound on her chest the bullet was fired from chetna's service revolver. Later, Mr Singh was transferred as Commandant, 1st Battalion, Indore.
