CPI(Maoist) activist killed in encounter

Dehri-On-Sone, Dec 27: A self-styled area commander of proscribed CPI(Maoist) was killed in an encounter with police in the wee hours today in Maneri Bigha village under Dehri-On-Sone police station of Rohtas district.

District Superintendent of Police Nair Hasnan Khan said the police recovered two country made guns, 31 rounds of live cartidges and 10 empty cases of cartidges from his residence where the encounter took place.

Roshan alias Jairam Paswan, opened fire when a police team manned by STF approached his residence, Mr Khan said adding the police retaliated and in the ensuing encounter, the 'area commander' was killed.

The extremist was wanted in about a dozen criminal cases, he added.
