Consumer Forum fines management institute for mental harassment
Jaipur, Dec 27 (UNI) A District Consumer Fourm here has fined a Pune-based management institute Rs 55,000 for mental harassment of a student and asked it to return a donation of Rs five lakh and fees deposited for the remaining period after his dismissal.
The District Consumer Fourm II Jaipur found that Pune-based managment institute Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Developemnt(SCMHRD) had dismissed MBA student Nitin Chauhan without any reasons and dismissed its contention that it did not accept any donation from him.
Nitin claimed he was given admission after paying a donation of Rs five lakh apart from the regular fee and was dismissed midway through the course.
The Forum directed the institue pay Rs 55,000 for mental harassment of the student and refund the entire donation of Rs five lakh and the remaining part of the fees pending with the institute for the period after his dismissal.
The institute contended that Nitin was given admission under political pressure on management quota even after the student failed in the entrance test. The Forum noted 'the institute appears to be eager to do anything in violation of rules'.
