Chargesheet against 11 in Khairlanji murder case
New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) The CBI today filed a chargesheet against eleven persons in connection with the september 29 massacre of four members of a family in Maharashtra's Khairlanji village of Bhandara district.
The chargesheet was filed in the court of Judicial Magistrate, Mohadi Taluka in Maharastra, for criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly with deadly weapons, murder, trespass, outraging modesty of women, destruction of evidence besides offences under the Scheduled Castes&Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Attrocities) Act, 1989.
The CBI also told the Court that investigations into the involvement of the remaining 35 accused, who are in judicial custody, along with the Andhalgaon area SHO and others was continuing.
The crime was registered by the Special Crime Branch, Chennai of the CBI on November 28 on the complaint of Bhaiyalal Sudam Bhotmange, regarding the murder of his wife and three children.
Investigations revealed that the eleven charge-sheeted persons and others attacked Bhotmange's family, while uttering casteist remarks, and brutally murdered his wife Surekha, daughter Priyanka and two sons Sudhir and Roshan.
In its chargesheet, the CBI said in order to destroy the evidence, the accused threw their bodies in the Pench canal.
Police later arrested 44 people following investigations. The case was later entrusted to the CID on November 8 which arrested three others, taking the total arrested to 47.
