CERS bags State Consumer Protection award

Ahmedabad, Dec 27 (UNI) City-based Consumer Education and Research Society (CERS) was conferred the State Consumer Protection Award for 2005-2006 at a function in Surat recently.

The second prize was awarded to the Kodinar-based Grahak Hit Suraksha Mandal, and the third prize was jointly shared by the Vadodara-based Jagrut Grahak and Rajkot Shaher Zilla Grahak Suraksha Mandal.

The CERS has won the award for the second time in succession for its contribution to the field of consumer protection.

The award was conferred upon CERS at the hands of National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission president Justice M B Shah who, while speaking on the occasion, stressed the need for consumer groups to join hands with the government authorities for effective implementation of consumer-related acts.

The award was presented to CERS on the occasion of the National Consumer Rights Day. The functions was inaugurated at the hands of Gujarat Minister of Consumer Affairs Chhatra Singh Mori.
