Centre extends by one year ceasefire with DHD
New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) The Centre has extended the ceasefire agreement with the Dima Haola Daoga (DHD) outfit, an underground militant group active in the North Cachar Hills of Asom, by one year upto December 31.
The agreement to this effect was signed here last evening by DHD Chairman Dilip Nunisa.
''In view of the extension of the ceasefire, the process for political dialogue will start from early March when the DHD is expected to submit its political demand to the Centre, the Chairman told UNI.
The DHD is demanding for a separate state of 'Dimaraji' for the Dimasa (sons of the great river) tribe, comprising Dimasa dominated-areas of the North Cachar Hills and Karbi Anglong districts of Asom and parts of Dimapur district in Nagaland.
However, it is understood that the outfit will settle for an autonomous council status.
