Bomb scare aboard Chennai-bound Tamil Nadu Express
Nagpur, Dec 27 (UNI) A bomb scare on board the 2622 New Delhi-Chennai Tamil Nadu Express today led to its detention at the Godhni railway station on the outskirts of the city, police said.
Police said a team, comprising the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the city police, was called after a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) aboard the train alerted the railway authorities about an unclaimed bag lying in one of the sleeper class coaches.
A thorough search of the coaches was conducted, but no explosives were found on the train.
The police instead found ten cans labelled 'thinner,' belonging to two passengers on the train travelling to Chennai on reserved berths, which were later seized and taken into custody by the RPF.
They have been identified as Pankaj Ramdas Jatav (27), a resident of Delhi, and Sonu Kumar Pande (20), a resident of Varanasi. The duo were booked under section 164 of the Railways Act, police added.
