Asian telecommunications hit by Taiwan quake
Bangkok, Dec 27: Telecommunications across East and Southeast Asia were severely disrupted today by strong earthquakes off Taiwan which damaged undersea cables that carry global telephone and Internet services.
Internet and telephone services across the region were hit hard by the undersea quakes which struck late last night, affecting international financial transactions.
Trading in South Korea was virtually suspended today, according to reports from Seoul, with partial disruption reported in the foreign exchange market in Tokyo.
