Abhinn Shyam makes Pawar bite dust

Indore, Dec 27 (UNI) Top-seed Anand Pawar was beaten 23-21, 18-21, 21-16 by Abhinn Shyam Gupta today in a prequarterfinal of the All India Senior Major Ranking Badminton Tournament here.

In other encounters, second-seed K P Kashyap from Andhra Pradesh made Delhi's Tanveer Gill bit the dust 21-11, 21-9 while third-seed Ajay Jayaram of the Petroleum Sports Control Board (PSCB) was humbled by Andhra's K K Tanishq 21-15, 22-0.

In the women's category, top-seed Aditi Mutatkar of Maharashtra got the better of Railway's Rimi Hazarika 21-3, 21-6 while second-seed B R Meenakshi of the PSCB defeated Railway's Anita Ohlan 19-21, 21-5, 21-16.

However, third-seed V Rath Misha of Karnataka was beaten by Assam's Avantika Deka 22-20, 21-13.
