16 fall ill consuming soyabean sope in Mizoram

Aizawl, Dec 27 (UNI) At least 16 people, including two children, fell ill after eating soyabean "sope"(a special dish) in a Christmas party at Armed Veng locality of the capital city yesterday.

Aizawl Superintendent of Police L T Hrangchal here today said all the victims attended the party and had been suffering serious stomach problems.

He said the soyabean seeds were bought from Champhai town, Mizoram-Myanmar border at low cost.

''All of them were shifted to Aizawl Civil Hospital and discharged at night after treatment,'' Mr Hrangchal said.
