Guilty in Kavita Rani case will not be spared: SP
Lucknow, Dec 26: Senior SP leader Beni Prasad Verma today said the Uttar Pradesh government was committed to ensuring that the guilty in the Kavita Rani murder case was punished.
Commenting on the controversy over the killing of lecturer Kavita Rani, the Lok Sabha MP said police investigations into the case were on and nobody found guilty would be spared.
On the alleged involvement of Rashitrya Lok Dal (RLD) leaders in the crime, Mr Verma said he could not comment as the matter was being probed.
He admitted that running a coalition government in Uttar Pradesh sometimes created problems for the party.
''Sometimes, such things happen, when you are leading a coalition regime,'' he said.
He also declined comment on the involvement of SP minister Kiran Pal Singh in the controversy.
Yesterday, former UP irrigation minister and senior RLD leader Merajuddin had resigned from the party after his involvement in a sex racket was disclosed by the Meerut Police in connection with Kavita's murder.
