RLD min Babulal resigns on Kavita murder issue
Lucknow, Dec 26: Uttar Pradesh minister of state for food processing and political pension Babulal has resigned from the Mulayam Singh Yadav ministry following the controversy over the alleged involvement in the Kavita Rani murder case.
Babulal, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) MLA from Agra, sent his resignation letter from his constituency to party chief Ajit Singh, who later forwarded it to the chief minister this afternoon.
The RLD minister's name was dragged in the controversial Kavita Rani murder case after a diary of the deceased read he had phoned her over 53 times on October 23 last, while she was missing.
Mr Yadav is likely to take a decision later this evening, as the Chief Minister is presently not in the state capital.
Yesterday, former state irrigation minister and RLD leader Merajuddin had resigned from the party after his involvement in a sex racket was disclosed by the Meerut Police in connection with Kavita's murder.
